Like Buttered Toast With Jelly and Coffee In The Morning

Sometimes, in my early morning musing with my coffee, I get philosophical.

That sometimes makes me want to kick my own ass.

I mean, why am I complicating a beautiful quiet morning with deep thoughts? That guy in the mirror is still half asleep and wont listen anyway.

Funny how we wake up, sit down with a perfectly good cup of coffee that’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to do… and somehow decide, “This isn’t enough. Let me emotionally complicate it.”

It’s like we don’t trust simple.

If life isn’t mildly stressful, slightly confusing, and sprinkled with unnecessary overthinking, we start to get suspicious—like we forgot to worry about something important.

So we upgrade the moment. Add a little anxiety, a dash of comparison, maybe question our entire life direction before the second sip. You know… just to keep things interesting.

Sitting with a cup of coffee and your own thoughts can be peaceful… but it can also make you face things you’ve been avoiding. Complication can be a kind of noise we hide inside.

But here’s the quiet truth: Simple doesn’t mean small.
It means clear.
It means real.

It’s like buttered toast with jelly and coffee in the morning… simple, warm, and somehow enough.

It’s the kind of comfort that doesn’t ask questions— Just shows up, soft and steady,
wrapping you in quiet certainty before the world gets loud.

Not flashy. Not complicated.
Just right.

The kind of feeling you don’t chase— you recognize it when it’s there.

The complicated will come later.  It always does.

And it can wait its turn.

Right now… let this be enough.

The quiet. The calm. The clear before your brain starts acting up again.

You owe yourself the grace to stay there a little while.

There’s more waiting at https://xinkblotz.com. Telling stories, sharing thoughts, and drinking coffee. A blend of fiction, reflection, and whatever’s brewing – one post at a time.
